The Queenstown Country Club designed by awarded New Zealand architects — Warren & Mahoney — is a luxury retirement retreat in an idyllic alpine setting.
The development comprises over 230 private villas and apartments, with The Clubhouse as the focal point for socialising and wellbeing. Afforded a Northern aspect, The Clubhouse has breath-taking views across the foothills to Coronet Peak. The gable forms of the building respond to both the historical architectural forms of the region and the prominent mountain peaks.
“The Clubhouse has not been designed for old people; it has been designed for active people getting older.” The building needed to respond to a younger, more active demographic – residents who continue to lead active outdoor lifestyles and enjoy socialising.
Hence, Devon was pleased provide outdoor furniture to enable residents to soak up the sun, admire the views, and dine outdoors in ultimate comfort.
Warren and Mahoney’s design team looked to curate a “Refined Alpine experience of understated quality, drawing inspiration from the surrounding alpine environment, where the local flora and fauna provide a rich material and colour palette specific to the region. A key source of inspiration was the iconic mountain Kea with its olive-green plumage and vibrant multi-coloured underwing.”
Echoing a similar design philosophy, Devon furniture is inspired by Aotearoa’s beauty and crafted to endure her elements. Ensuring the Rere Sofa in Shadow Grey and Opito Dining collections sit in harmony with the overall design aesthetic of The Club House.
